On the Pomeroon, in Guyana’s quiet Region 2, the river is the community’s highway. There are no cars here — boats do everything cars do elsewhere. This region is often called Guyana’s coconut country, and the coconut is the heart of this trip — you’ll taste freshly cut green coconuts from the shell, grate dry coconuts, and make coconut milk. Meals are farm-to-table, and your night is spent at a quiet riverside resort — small, and often hosting only your booked group at a time, though we don’t promise exclusive use.

Many of our guests first meet the Pomeroon on the day tour — and the most common thing they tell us afterwards is that they wished they’d stayed. The day trip is a long travel day with a few treasured hours on the river; the overnight turns those hours into a day and a half. If you’re choosing between the two and your schedule allows it, this is the version we’d recommend — the river is at its best when nobody is watching the clock.
