This is the trip for travellers who want to reach one of Guyana’s most beautiful river regions and be back the same evening. In one full day you cross the wide Essequibo, eat breakfast in a river town, photograph a colonial-era chimney, pass through the market town of Charity, and spend the heart of the afternoon on the Pomeroon itself — a river where boats take the place of cars and life happens on the water.
Please know before you book: this is a long travel day. The Pomeroon is far from Georgetown, and reaching it in a day means an early start, several hours of combined road and boat travel in each direction, and a return to Parika around 5:00 pm. The reward is real — but if you’d rather trade the road time for a night on the river, the two-day overnight version is the relaxed way to do this same journey.
How the day flows

Georgetown pickup, if you’ve chosen it — we collect you from your accommodation and drive west to Parika.
~8:00 am
Depart Parika by speedboat — a 30-minute crossing of the Essequibo delta to Supenaam on the western shore.
Morning
Breakfast in Supenaam, then along the Essequibo coast with a photo stop at the old Aurora chimney — a relic of the region’s colonial sugar era — before reaching Charity, where the road ends and the Pomeroon begins.
Mid-morning to midday
Onto the Pomeroon River. Homes, shops, mangroves, and coconut estates line the banks as you travel by boat to Adel’s, where you’ll settle in for lunch and about three relaxing hours — hammocks, good food, the temple of palms.

The journey back — river, Charity, coast, and the crossing to Parika.
~5:00 pm
Arrive back at Parika. If you booked Georgetown pickup, we drive you back to your accommodation from here.
Meals
Breakfast and lunch are included — real local food, not a packed sandwich. Choose your breakfast from our favourite snackette in Supenaam; lunch is Adel’s signature farm-to-table experience. Tell us about any dietary needs or allergies when you request the tour and we’ll plan around them.
Day trip or overnight?
Both are genuinely good trips — they simply suit different schedules. The day tour is the right choice when your time in Guyana is tight: you see the river, eat the food, and sleep in your own bed that night. The overnight version suits travellers with a spare day who’d rather arrive slowly, stay at the riverside resort, and let the Pomeroon set the pace. Guests who do the day trip often tell us the hours at Adel’s were the highlight — the overnight simply gives you more of them.
